We are currently seeking a female support worker for one of our SIL houses located in ASPLEY.

The positions would be ideal for people with an interest to work with individuals who have a range of disabilities and passionate about making a difference and who value integrity, transparency, and high safety standards.

Job Description:

  • Assisting with daily living tasks such as personal care, meal preparation, medication administration/assistance, and domestic duties. Please note that engaging in personal business, private study, or any non-work-related activities and unauthorised electronic device use is strictly prohibited during active shift hours.

  • Transporting participants to appointments and community outings using your vehicle. (comprehensive car insurance for minor business purpose is required if transporting participants)

  • Providing 24-hour support to participants living in Supported Independent Living (SIL) settings, including inactive sleepover shifts, and weekend coverage.

  • Performing domestic maintenance including cleaning, laundry, and light yard care as part of the daily house routine.

  • Supporting clients to engage in community activities, appointments, and social outings.

  • Promoting participants' independence and choice through capacity-building activities.

  • Providing all required reports including, shift notes and incident reports before the end of each shift..

We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Female Support Workers to provide high-quality care and support to our participants in the northern suburbs of Brisbane - Queensland. As a SIL House Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in helping individuals with disabilities lead independent and meaningful lives.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Support Worker you will:

  • Be respectful and communicate well with family members of those who you work with as you will be working in the participant’s family homes.

  • Maintain 100% focus on the participant; keep professional boundaries with families and strictly avoid personal electronics use on shift.

  • Proactive willingness to complete all ongoing training, personal development, and site-specific assessments as required to maintain NDIS compliance.

  • Be able to think on your feet and be able to adapt to different situations and participants.

  • Support the people we care for to grow their skills basis and abilities to perform tasks to help live a meaningful and good life.

  • Support to develop and maintain independence and safety. This may be through personal care and hygiene, health and wellbeing, meal preparation, shopping and household chores, mobility and transportation or supporting them to access the community and activities.

  • Provide emotional and social support to individuals.

  • Assist individuals in developing and achieving their goals.

  • Monitor and document progress of individuals.

  • Follow all safety protocols and procedures.

  • Demonstrate a proactive willingness to completely learn and follow all company policies as outlined in the Workers Handbook and other governing documents.

  • Be highly punctual and reliable for all rostered shifts. We value workers who are easy to communicate with and proactive in their professional interactions with management.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Please note that you may be required to work morning, afternoon or night depending what will be required of the participant which will include some weekend and public holiday shifts too.

Criteria:

  • Physically fit and active.

  • The ability to develop a positive relationship with the participant.

  • Able to work in a fast paced environment.

  • NDIS Worker Screening Check.

  • Working with Children's Check.

  • Covid-19 Vaccination Certificate.

  • First Aid and CPR.

  • Police Check. 

  • Medication Assistance Certificate.

  • NDIS ‘New Worker Induction Module’.

  • Cert III in Individual Support or Cert IV in Disability (or equivalent) is desirable

  • Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities in a SIL House preferred.

  • Ability to remain calm and patient in challenging situations.

  • Have driver’s license and own car with comprehensive car insurance including coverage for business use/activity.

  • Must provide current CoE and Academic Calendar if on a Student Visa.

  • Must provide honest and accurate data regarding availability, visa conditions, and work hours.

  • Knowledge of Emergency response protocols and a commitment to never abandon a post during an incident or due to personal phobias.

  • Must demonstrate a willingness to engage in ongoing professional development and successfully complete all company ongoing training modules.
